BIRTH OR DEATH CERTIFICATES: To request a Birth or Death Certificate you will need to fill out an application available at the town clerk’s office, or download the application here, and return this completed form to the town clerks office. Certified copies are $10 each.
BURN PERMITS: By Vermont State Law, if you wish to burn natural wood or debris outdoors, you must obtain a burn permit from the Town Fire Warden. If you do not have a fire permit and you request or require assistance from any local fire department, you will be held responsible for that fire. Permits are free and can be issued verbally over the phone.

COPIES: Non-certified copies are $1 per page. If requested by email an additional charge of $2 applies.
DOG LICENSES: Licenses are available by Feb 1st of each year, and dogs must be licensed by April 1st. A fee of $11.00 for spayed/neutered dogs and $15.00 for intact dogs. Must present certificate of current rabies vaccination and proof of spay/neuter. Late fees apply after April 1st.

GREEN MOUNTAIN PASSPORTS: Persons 62 or older, or a Veteran of the uniformed services, are eligible to apply for a Green Mountain Passport for a $2.00 fee.
The passport provides free admission to Vermont State Parks, Historic Sites, and certain state-sponsored events (excluding overnight camping and other park fees).
To receive a Green Mountain Passport, just fill out an application available at your town clerk’s office or Download the application and return it to your town clerks office, along with your $2 fee.

LAND POSTING: If you wish to post your land you must file a form at the Clerk’s Office annually, for a cost of $5.00. If you post your land for the first time in March, your posting expires the following March, and you must file a new form. Guidelines for “legal posting” are available with sign location and size here.
LAND AND HISTORICAL RECORDS: Property and other official records are available for self-service viewing during normal business hours. If you require assistance, please call ahead. For liability reason we do not do searches.
MARRIAGE LICENSES: Marriage licenses can be issued up to 60 days prior to the event for a fee of $80, plus $10 for your own certified copy. These can be picked up in our office. NOTARY: Notary services are available to Morgan taxpayers and residents at no cost. Please call ahead if possible.
PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS: The Clerk will accept tax payments in person, by mail, or online until 4:00 pm on the second to last Thursday of every October. At that time, unpaid taxes are placed in the hands of the delinquent tax collector and subject to penalties and interest. Please note that post markings are not acceptable as payable dates.

RECORDING: Documents for recording in the Morgan Land Records can be mailed or presented in person along with the $15 per page fee.

VOTER REGISTRATION: Election Day Voter Registration went into effect on January 1, 2017. Eligible residents will be able to register to vote on any day up to and including Election Day during regular hours. (The Clerk’s Office still appreciates advance registration whenever possible.)
